The Tahoe Community Sailing program is thrilled to announce an exciting and action-packed season for 2024! We are eager to welcome both returning and new junior sailors to our team. Below, you'll find important information about our upcoming season, new equipment, and special events. Mark your calendars and prepare for an unforgettable summer on the water!
Junior Team Meeting
Date: Sunday, June 23, 2024
Time: 5:30 PM
Location: Tahoe Yacht Club (TYC)
Our junior team meeting is the perfect opportunity for sailors and their parents to get an overview of the season’s activities and requirements. We will discuss training schedules, race events, and important team guidelines.
New Boats for the Season
We are excited to announce the acquisition of 9 new RS Zest sailboats and 2 new ILCA Lasers. These state-of-the-art boats will significantly enhance our fleet and provide our sailors with top-notch equipment for training and competition. Each boat will be assigned to sailors for the summer, and racers are responsible for their maintenance throughout the season. Laser racers, please note that you are also responsible for storing your boats during the off-season and must pay a $75 charter fee for the season.
Boat Maintenance and Registration
All sail numbers must be accurate and registered with TYC. Maintaining your assigned boat is crucial for ensuring a smooth and successful season. Proper care and timely reporting of any issues will help us keep our fleet in excellent condition.
Coaching Clinics and Guest Coach
We are delighted to welcome Julian Soto as a guest coach for our Friday afternoon clinics at Stampede. Julian’s expertise and guidance will be invaluable as we prepare for the Season Championship on September 6, 2024. In addition, regular coaching clinics will be held every Monday at 1:00 PM, preceding the Monday night races at the Lake Forest Sailing Center.
Key Events
Season Championship: September 6, 2024, at Stampede
Big Dinghy Regatta: October 4-5, 2024, at Richmond Yacht Club, San Francisco Bay
The Laser Team will have the opportunity to showcase their skills at these prestigious events, representing Tahoe Community Sailing with pride and excellence.
